Hi there. As the title of this blog would suggest, I am at an age where dealing with hot flushes and fighting wrinkles is a regular occurrence and I’m not averse to a glass of bubbles to both celebrate and commiserate the aging process either.
Being “middle-aged” is both interesting and challenging, not least because I never imagined what being “middle-aged” would mean. For some reason my imagination never went further than being a 30 something woman, with little kids and healthy parents, permanently living in a world of trips to the beach, picnics and cuddles.
Of course, the opposite is true. We age, our kids grow up, our parents get older and somehow, life and our expectations of it, change in so many ways.
Each day brings a new situation or a new dilemma to deal with, be it adult children living at home or away, teenage relationships or your parent’s health issues. Then,on a more personal level, there’s the new-found joy of big knickers and comfy shoes, the realisation that a night out will result in a 2 day hangover and the constant threat of a hot flush!
I’ve certainly learnt the importance of a strong and solid relationship, good friends, good underwear and a sense of humour.
Through this blog I’d like to explore and dissect these middle years and hope to share the experience with those of you travelling the same road.
There are a lot of good things about being at this age and stage of life, you just might have to look a little harder to find them.
